Statement by AFGE National President Bobby L. Harnage, Sr. on the Passing of Senator Paul Wellstone
(WASHINGTON, D.C.)—America lost a wonderful man and two wonderful women today. The tragic and unthinkable passing of Senator Paul Wellstone and his wife Sheila and daughter have left the entire AFGE family stunned and deeply saddened.
Senator Paul Wellstone was a very dear friend to many AFGE members throughout the federal and D.C. governments. The causes he championed on the floor of the U.S. Senate have made America a much better place. He was a person of principle and honor who always fought for the average person and for those who were less fortunate in life.
Senator Paul Wellstone constantly challenged America to examine where we are today, moving us to a better place for all Americans tomorrow. Senator Paul Wellstone was a true patriot who made a difference in the lives of millions.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Wellstone family. Senator Paul Wellstone, Sheila and his daughter will be sorely missed.
