AFGE Members Keep on TRAC & Welcome OMB's Styles to 2002 Legislative Conference
(WASHINGTON, D.C.)—Members of America’s largest federal employees union are anticipating their chance to bring their top issue to the nation’s capital and also hear from the Office of Management and Budget’s Angela Styles, Administrator of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy.
The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) is happy to welcome Styles on Monday morning, March 4, at 9:30 am as the union’s guest speaker at its 2002 Legislative & Grassroots Mobilization Conference at the Omni Shoreham Hotel.
This groundbreaking event will be followed by another history-maker—the first Senate committee hearing on the Truthfulness, Responsibility & Accountability in Contracting (TRAC) Act on Wednesday, March 6. AFGE National President, Bobby L. Harnage, is scheduled to testify on the critical need for TRAC passage.
Harnage will tell members of the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee that the Senate TRAC bill—which differs from the House version—addresses many of the Bush administration’s criticisms about TRAC.
Hundreds of AFGE conference delegates are expected to crowd Room 216 of the Senate Hart Building at 9:30 am to ensure their passionate opposition to wasteful privatization is felt by Congress.
Reporters are also invited to attend the union’s Civil Rights Luncheon on Monday, March 4, from 12-2 p.m. The speaker will be Wade Henderson, the Executive Director of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights.
