(WASHINGTON) – The nation's largest union of federal employees, the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), today praised the House of Representatives for the FY09 Continuing Appropriations Bill which includes a well deserved pay raise for all federal workers, regardless of their employer and their pay scale.
“Federal civilian workers support our troops overseas and risk their lives to protect all Americans and their families on our home front and should be guaranteed the same pay increase as military personnel,” stated AFGE National President John Gage.
“AFGE is grateful to House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer for his tireless efforts in winning this pay raise for federal workers. By having the foresight and determination to move the pay raise via the Continuing Resolution, he has guaranteed much needed and deserved financial help in this flagging economy for federal workers everywhere,” remarked President Gage. “We now urge the Senate to have this same fortitude and dedication in their deliberations to get this bill passed.”
