AFGE Applauds Biden’s Actions to Safeguard Abortion Access
Executive Order aims to protect access to reproductive health services following Supreme Court ruling
WASHINGTON – American Federation of Government Employees National President Everett Kelley and National Vice President for Women and Fair Practices Jeremy Lannan today issued the following statement:
“On behalf of the 700,000 federal and D.C. government employees our union represents, we applaud President Biden for doing everything in his power to safeguard access to reproductive health services in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling striking down Roe v. Wade.
“President Biden’s executive order marshals the collective resources of the federal government to protect a woman’s access to safe and secure abortions, contraception, and related services. This is a matter of public health and safety, individual rights, and personal privacy. This is an issue that affects all of us in this country, as well as generations yet to come. How we as a government and as a nation respond to this challenge will determine our future.”
