WASHINGTON – Today, the American Federation of Government Employees announced its endorsement of Pam Iovino for election this April to the Pennsylvania State Senate representing the 37th District.
“As a native Pennsylvanian and lifetime public servant, Pam knows exactly what her constituents in Southwestern Pennsylvania need,” said AFGE District 3 National Vice President Phil Glover. “Pam knows that the labor movement is the backbone of our economy, and that by expanding access to labor unions, the commonwealth will succeed.”
“Pam’s 23 years of service in the U.S. Navy and later work with the Department of Veterans Affairs shows us that she knows the importance of serving the public,” said Glover. “We know that she will serve admirably in the State Senate and we look forward to working with her for years to come.”
"I am honored to receive the endorsement of the hardworking men and women of the AFGE,” said Iovino. “As state senator, I will proudly stand with working families everywhere, because when our unions are strong, our communities are strong. I've seen firsthand the benefits unions provide, and I will fight against these attacks at every level of government."
More than 97,400 federal employees live in Pennsylvania – caring for veterans, supporting the military, ensuring our food is safe to eat, and getting Social Security recipients their benefits accurately and on time.
AFGE is the largest federal employee union in the country, representing 700,000 federal and D.C. government workers in all functions of government. District 3 represents about 32,000 employees in Delaware and Pennsylvania.
