BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), the largest union representing more than 800,000 federal and D.C. government employees, proudly announces its endorsement of Rep. Angie Craig for the open U.S. Senate seat currently held by Sen. Tina Smith.
Since her first campaign for Congress in 2016, AFGE has recognized Rep. Craig as a steadfast champion for federal employees and AFGE members across Minnesota. Throughout her time in office, Craig has consistently prioritized meeting with AFGE members both at home in Minnesota and in Washington, ensuring that the voices of federal workers are heard and respected.
With a 100% lifetime voting record on issues critical to AFGE, Craig has proven time and again that she is committed to protecting workplace rights, federal collective bargaining rights, and strengthening unions through her long-standing support for the PRO Act. From touring the Minneapolis VA Medical Center on short notice to listen directly to employees' concerns, to fighting every day in Congress for better pay, benefits, and working conditions, Angie Craig has remained true to her word. She has not wavered in her commitment to federal employees and will continue her tireless advocacy in the U.S. Senate.
"Representative Angie Craig has been an unwavering advocate for federal employees and AFGE members since day one," said AFGE District 8 National Vice President Ruark Hotopp, whose district includes Minnesota. "She listens to our concerns, acts on them, and fights every day to make sure federal workers are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve. Her 100% voting record on AFGE issues speaks volumes. We are proud to endorse her for the U.S. Senate, knowing she will continue to be a relentless fighter for working families and the federal workforce."
AFGE looks forward to working alongside Rep. Craig as she continues her fight for federal workers, union rights, and a stronger future for all Minnesotans and federal employees in the U.S. Senate.
