WASHINGTON – The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) announced today that Eric Heggie has been appointed as Director of Politics and Field Mobilization in the union’s Advocacy Department.
Heggie brings more than two decades of national-level labor and political experience to AFGE. Most recently, he served as assistant director of the United Auto Workers’ National CAP Department, where he managed the union’s national electoral programs, led political outreach during the historic 2023 Big 3 Stand Up Strike, and helped modernize member engagement and digital communication systems.
“Eric Heggie is a proven leader who understands what it takes to mobilize workers and win,” said AFGE National President Everett Kelley. “His experience building strong political programs and uniting members behind a common purpose will make our union even stronger in the fights ahead to protect federal and D.C. government workers and the people they serve.”
