WASHINGTON – American Federation of Government Employees National President J. David Cox Sr. released the following statement in response to the House vote today to repeal the Affordable Care Act:
“The House voted today to take away health care from 24 million people, raise out-of-pocket costs for millions more, and allow insurance companies to charge more to people who are older or have pre-existing conditions.
“Although doctors vow to ‘first, do no harm’ to their patients, members of Congress don’t follow the same philosophy. They have passed a bill to scrap the Affordable Care Act and replace it with Trumpcare, which will leave American families worse off than they are today.
“But the fight is not over. We will continue to push for the common-sense reforms that most Americans want – to expand health care coverage to more people and lower their costs.”
