AFGE statement on death of Rep. LaTourette

WASHINGTON – American Federation of Government Employees National President J. David Cox Sr. today issued the following statement:
“Former U.S. Rep. Steve LaTourette of Ohio, who died Aug. 3 from pancreatic cancer, was a lawmaker who supported working people and understood the value of compromise.
“Congressman LaTourette believed in the right of employees to join labor unions and bargain collectively for better working conditions, and he had our back in fighting to preserve union rights for health care workers in the Department of Veterans Affairs.
“I extend my deepest sympathies to his family, friends and colleagues.”
