WASHINGTON – American Federation of Government Employees National Secretary-Treasurer Everett Kelley issued the following statement:
“The Senate’s approval of a short-term funding bill to keep the federal government open through Dec. 20 moves us one step closer to narrowly avoiding the second government shutdown this year. All that is required now is the president’s signature.
“But we should be clear – these constant short-term budget fixes wouldn’t work for any other business or organization in the United States. Agencies need a full-year budget for 2020 so that they can do critical planning and continue delivering essential services to the American people. Congress must use the next month wisely to complete and pass full-year appropriations bills for all our government agencies.”
