WASHINGTON – American Federation of Government Employees National President Everett Kelley today issued the following statement:
“The American Federation of Government Employees unequivocally condemns the barbaric slaughter of innocent civilians in Israel on October 7 and the taking of an estimated 150 civilian hostages. A total of 27 American citizens are among the dead. Fourteen remain unaccounted for and are likely being held hostage along with citizens of at least 20 other countries including Thailand, Brazil, Canada, Ukraine, Russia, France, Italy, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania Philippines, Argentina, Paraguay, Nepal, Peru, Columbia, China, Austria, Ireland, and Germany.
“We extend our condolences to the families of the victims of the Hamas massacre and all innocents who have been killed because of Hamas’s actions.
“We call on Hamas to immediately and unconditionally release the hostages they are holding in captivity and reunite these innocent civilians with their families.
“We stand in support of our union brothers and sisters in Israel who have suffered enormous loss, and we pray for peace and justice for all.”
