Federal Employees, D.C. Government Workers and Labor Activists to Protest Sequestration, Budget Cuts

PITTSBURGH – Federal and D.C. government employees, along with labor activists will rally outside the Moorhead Federal Office Building on Tuesday to protest sequestration and federal budget cuts.

The rally is being organized by the American Federation of Government Employees, the largest union representing federal and D.C. government workers. Hundreds of federal and D.C. government employees from across the country are in town for AFGE’s 2013 Human Rights Training Conference. Labor activists are welcomed to the city of Pittsburgh by AFGE District 3 National Vice President Keith Hill.

“We are holding this rally to call attention to the debilitating budget cuts required under sequestration and to put pressure on Congress to stop sequestration and provide federal agencies with the money they need to do the government’s business,” AFGE National President J. David Cox Sr. said. “Unless Congress ends sequestration now, these extreme budget cuts are going to continue for another nine years – decimating federal programs and services that millions of Americans rely on each and every day.”
