BRIDGETON, N.J. – The American Federation of Government Employees today announced its endorsements of Rep. Maggie Goodlander for reelection and Stefany Shaheen for election to the U.S. House representing New Hampshire’s second and first congressional districts, respectively, in the Nov. 3 election.
Rep. Goodlander is a Yale Law School graduate and former intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve who was elected to the U.S. House in 2024. Stefany Shaheen is a former Portsmouth city councilor and lifelong resident of the Granite State who is running for an open seat in Congress.
“New Hampshire’s federal workforce needs champions in every corner of the Granite State,” said AFGE District 2 National Vice President David Gonzalez. “Maggie Goodlander has stood with our members during her time representing the 2nd District, and we’re confident Stefany Shaheen will carry that same fight for federal employees in the 1st District. Federal workers in New Hampshire staff our VA hospitals, secure our border, and keep our national parks open, and these candidates will have their backs in Congress.”
More than 13,000 federal employees live in New Hampshire – caring for veterans, supporting the military, and getting Social Security recipients their benefits accurately and on time.
AFGE is the largest federal employee union in the country, representing more than 820,000 federal and D.C. government workers in all functions of government. AFGE represents more than 51,000 federal employees in District 2, which includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
