Largest Federal Employee Union Endorses Colorado’s Jessica Killin for Election to U.S. House

AFGE says Killin will leverage her prior military service and veterans’ advocacy to fight for working families on Capitol Hill
AURORA, Colo. –– The American Federation of Government Employees today announced its endorsement of Jessica Killin for election to the U.S. House representing Colorado’s 5th Congressional District in the 2026 elections. The general election is Nov. 3.
Raised in the Colorado Springs area by educators, Killin served overseas in the U.S. Army as a military police officer and captain before working as a chief of staff in Congress and the White House. As an executive at USAA, she worked to streamline VA home loans and sought ways to stop payday lenders from preying on our soldiers after the 2008 financial crisis.
Killin recently hosted a labor roundtable to hear from local union leaders about their greatest concerns and what she could do to support them, and she will continue to engage with local labor unions to ensure they are heard and represented in Congress. She supports tax reform that builds a robust middle class and will focus on laws that incentivize the private sector to use union labor as they build infrastructure and invest in our community. Killin will work with both parties to deliver results, bring down the cost of living, and support anti-corruption reforms.
“El Paso County has one of the highest percentages of active and retired military personnel in the country. Jessica Killin, with her military background, will represent them and other AFGE members well,” AFGE District 11 National Vice President Tim Snyder said.
AFGE previously endorsed five members of Congress for reelection to their seats representing Colorado in the 2026 elections: Sen. John Hickenlooper and Reps. Diana DeGette (CD-1), Joe Neguse (CD-2), Jason Crow (CD-6), and Brittany Pettersen (CD-7).
More than 60,500 federal employees live in Colorado – caring for veterans, supporting the military, protecting the flying public, and ensuring Social Security recipients receive their benefits accurately and on time.
AFGE is the largest federal employee union in the country, representing more than 820,000 federal and D.C. government workers in all functions of government.
