BRIDGETON, N.J. –– The American Federation of Government Employees today announced its endorsement of Matt Dunlap for election to the U.S. House representing Maine’s 2nd Congressional District in the Nov. 3 election.
AFGE is endorsing Matt Dunlap for election because he will strengthen workers’ rights, beat back attacks on federal workers’ collective bargaining rights, and address the pocketbook issues affecting working Mainers – housing, healthcare, childcare, and more. Matt understands the value of public service and fighting for working people.
“AFGE won’t have a better friend in Congress when Matt Dunlap is elected,” AFGE District 2 National Vice President David Gonzalez said. “Matt won’t be bought off by lobbyists or special interests. He knows the struggles of working people because that’s where he comes from. He’s been a champion for working people his whole life – nurses, union members, and everyone in between.”
AFGE previously endorsed Chellie Pingree for reelection to the U.S. House representing Maine’s 1st Congressional District.
More than 12,000 federal employees live in Maine – caring for veterans, supporting the military, and getting Social Security recipients their benefits accurately and on time.
AFGE is the largest federal employee union in the country, representing more than 820,000 federal and D.C. government workers in all functions of government. AFGE represents nearly 51,500 federal employees in District 2, which includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
