Largest Federal Employee Union Endorses Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey for Reelection and Dan Koh for Election to U.S. House

AFGE says Healy and Koh will fight for all government workers
BRIDGETON, N.J. –– The American Federation of Government Employees today announced its endorsements of Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey for reelection and Dan Koh for election to the U.S. House representing the state’s 6th Congressional District. The general election is Nov. 3.
Since President Trump’s DOGE-driven layoffs began gutting the federal workforce, Governor Healey has stood up for the more than 46,000 federal employees who live in Massachusetts. Her administration launched a website to connect laid-off federal workers with jobs in state and local government, and she has publicly tracked and called out hundreds of millions of dollars in federal cuts to state agencies, veterans’ services, and public health programs.
Koh, who previously served as a special assistant in the Biden White House and as chief of staff to former Labor Secretary and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, has been endorsed by more than 30 unions during his campaign. He has committed to opposing efforts to defend federal employees’ collective bargaining rights and fighting further cuts to the federal workforce.
“Governor Healey and Dan Koh both understand that a strong Massachusetts starts with a workforce at every level of government that’s respected and supported,” said AFGE District 2 National Vice President David Gonzalez. “While Donald Trump and DOGE have gutted federal agencies and thrown thousands of Massachusetts families into uncertainty, Governor Healey stepped up to help laid-off federal workers land on their feet, and Dan Koh will bring that same fight to Capitol Hill. AFGE is proud to stand with both of them.”
AFGE previously endorsed Sen. Ed Markey and eight members of Congress for reelection to the seats representing Massachusetts in the 2026 elections.
About 46,000 federal employees live in Massachusetts – caring for veterans, supporting the military, and getting Social Security recipients their benefits accurately and on time.
AFGE is the largest federal employee union in the country, representing more than 820,000 federal and D.C. government workers in all functions of government. AFGE represents more than 51,000 federal employees in District 2, which includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
