BRIDGETON, N.J. –The American Federation of Government Employees today announced its endorsement of Adam Hamawy for election to the U.S. House representing New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District in the Nov. 3 election.
“Adam Hamawy is a friend that AFGE can rely on to advocate for the best interests of our members,” AFGE District 2 National Vice President David Gonzalez said. “Hamawy spent eight years in the New Jersey National Guard and another nine months in Iraq as a flight surgeon with the 31st Combat Support Hospital with the U.S. Army. Hamawy has spent his career caring for our veterans, and he will continue to care for our AFGE members and their families while serving in Congress.”
AFGE previously endorsed nine incumbents for reelection to their seats representing New Jersey in the U.S. House.
About 29,000 federal employees live in New Jersey – caring for veterans, supporting the military, and getting Social Security recipients their benefits accurately and on time.
AFGE is the largest federal employee union in the country, representing more than 820,000 federal and D.C. government workers in all functions of government. AFGE represents more than 51,000 federal employees in District 2, which includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
