BRIDGETON, N.J. – The American Federation of Government Employees today announced its endorsement of Micah Lasher for election to Congress representing New York’s 12th Congressional District in the Nov. 3 election.
Lasher is a protégé of the district’s current representative, Jerry Nadler, who is not seeking reelection, and will continue Nadler’s support of federal workers across America.
“New York’s federal workforce needs champions in every corner of the Empire State,” said AFGE District 2 National Vice President David Gonzalez. “We're confident Micah Lasher will continue to carry the torch for federal employees in the 12th District. Federal workers in New York staff our VA hospitals, secure our border, and keep our national parks open, and Micah Lasher will have their backs in Congress.”
More than 129,000 federal employees live in New York – caring for veterans, supporting the military, and getting Social Security recipients their benefits accurately and on time.
AFGE is the largest federal employee union in the country, representing more than 820,000 federal and D.C. government workers in all functions of government. AFGE represents more than 51,000 federal employees in District 2, which includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
