Largest Federal Employee Union Endorses North Carolina’s Don Davis for Reelection to Congress

AFGE says Rep. Davis is an Air Force veteran who will fight for federal workers and all working families
WASHINGTON –– The American Federation of Government Employees today announced its endorsement of Rep. Don Davis for reelection to the U.S. House representing North Carolina’s 1st Congressional District in the 2026 elections. The general election is Nov. 3.
An Air Force veteran, Rep. Davis has been a steadfast advocate for federal employees, veterans, military families, and working people throughout North Carolina. His bipartisan leadership and commitment to strengthening the federal workforce have earned him the trust and support of AFGE members.
“As an Air Force veteran, Congressman Don Davis understands the importance of service and sacrifice,” AFGE District 4 National Vice President Christine Surrette said. “He has consistently stood with federal employees, veterans, and working families, recognizing the essential role public servants play in serving the American people. AFGE is proud to endorse Congressman Don Davis for reelection, and we look forward to continuing our work together on behalf of the members we represent.”
AFGE previously endorsed Roy Cooper for election to the U.S. Senate representing North Carolina and the following candidates for the U.S. House: Rep. Valerie Foushee (CD-4), Richard Ojeda (CD-9), and Jamie Ager (CD-11).
Nearly 85,000 federal employees live in North Carolina – caring for veterans, supporting the military, and getting Social Security recipients their benefits accurately and on time.
AFGE is the largest federal employee union in the country, representing more than 820,000 federal and D.C. government workers in all functions of government. AFGE represents nearly 48,000 federal employees in District 4, which includes Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.
