WASHINGTON – In response to the Federal Labor Relations Authority’s Feb. 14 decision regarding union-dues deductions, American Federation of Government Employees National Secretary-Treasurer Everett Kelley issued the following statement:
“The Authority’s decision is just another step toward the administration’s goal of busting unions and making it even harder for rank-and-file federal employees to speak up, defend their rights, and serve the American people. This meritless decision flies in the face of half a century of settled and well-reasoned legal precedent in an activist effort to divide federal employees from their unions. It’s part of a pattern of behavior by this administration that shows no respect for federal employees’ voluntary choice, their union contracts, or their rights under the law. This administration seems ready to do anything for the sake of diminishing agency accountability and silencing unions and the employees we represent. They may try to silence us, but they can never stop organized federal employees from standing up and speaking out for a better life for their families and the public we serve.”
