New Era at Federal Labor Relations Authority to Be Discussed on "Inside Government"

WASHINGTON—This week, the American Federation of Government Employees' “Inside Government” radio show will take an inside look at the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA). The show will air on Friday, March 6 at 10 a.m. ET nationwide on Federal News Radio at www.federalnewsradio.com and 1500 AM in the Washington, D.C., area.

Carol Waller Pope, FLRA acting chairwoman, will discuss the agency’s 30th anniversary, and her goal of fiscally and functionally restoring the FLRA. Mark Roth, AFGE general counsel, then will address Pope’s recent appointment as acting chairwoman, and the impact her leadership will have on the agency going forward.

Jim Aldridge, president of AFGE’s Law Enforcement Council, and Don Drewett, vice president of AFGE Bureau of Prisons (BOP) Local 3860, will highlight their issues from AFGE’s Legislative and Grassroots Mobilization Conference last month. Aldridge will discuss the important work of federal police officers, and his council’s legislative priorities for 2009. Finally, Drewett will remember the life and service of Jose Rivera, a BOP correctional officer killed in the line of duty June 20, 2008 at the United States Penitentiary in Atwater, Calif.
