WASHINGTON – American Federation of Government Employees National President Everett Kelley today issued the following statement:
“On behalf of the 700,000 government employees AFGE represents, I extend our appreciation to Congress for passing a continuing resolution to keep the federal government funded through Feb. 18.
“Federal employees serve our country with honor and distinction every day of the year, from screening airline passengers to delivering health care and benefits to our nation’s veterans. Any disruption to the services our members provide would have been unconscionable – especially as we continue to battle a global pandemic.
“Now that the immediate threat of a government shutdown has passed, I urge Congress to complete its work on full-year appropriations for all of our agencies so federal employees can focus exclusively on doing their jobs for the American people.”
