(MINNEAPOLIS) - Following the historic agreement for the first ever collective bargaining contract at the Transportation Security Administration, the American Federation of Government Employees - the union for TSA workers in Minneapolis, throughout Minnesota and across the country - will show its gratitude for the entire workforce with a solidarity event Wednesday, Nov. 14 at the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport. AFGE National President J. David Cox will be in attendance. U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) has been invited to attend as well.
“In appreciation of their hard work and commitment to protecting this nation, AFGE would publicly like to say ‘thank you’ to every TSO, and offer congratulations on their first collective bargaining agreement,” Cox said.
“AFGE is proud that TSA workers finally have a union contract that will improve their working lives and bring stability to the workforce,” Cox added. “This agreement will mean better working conditions, fair evaluation practices and safer workplaces, and in doing so, it will improve morale. This is important because low morale leads to unsafe levels of attrition in an agency where a stable, professional workforce of career employees is vital to its national security mission.”
