America’s wildlife refuges and conservation programs protect our natural heritage—but the dedicated professionals who carry out that mission often lack a real voice in the decisions that affect their work. AFGE is launching a national organizing campaign to unite U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) employees into one strong union family.
From biologists and refuge managers to maintenance crews, technicians and administrative staff, we all play a critical role in safeguarding America’s wildlife. We deserve the same voice, rights, and protections as other federal employees.
AFGE already represents thousands of workers across the Department of the Interior. Now, it’s time for USFWS employees to come together, get organized, and build power on the job.
On November 20, 2025, all of USFWS Region 8 voted to join AFGE. The USFWS Region 8 Non-Professional unit had 245 eligible voters, with 86% support for AFGE among those who voted. The USFWS Region 8 Professional unit had 325 eligible voters. AFGE 98.9% support for AFGE.
Many more regions are heading to election, and are building a real source of power for USFWS workers on the job. The time to join AFGE and the USFWS is today!
