Congratulations to AFGE's new National Vice Presidents recently elected to represent locals and members in five geographic areas.
AFGE congratulates officers who have been elected to the AFGE HUD Council 222 earlier this month at the council’s convention:
Holly Salamido, re-elected President of AFGE Council 222
Local 476 President Ashaki Robinson Johns, elected Council 222 Executive Vice President
Local 476 Secretary Kirk Mensah, re-elected as Council 222 Treasurer.
Lorraine Chambers of Fort Worth, TX, re-elected Council 222 Secretary.
AFGE thanks the officers for their hard work and dedication. Their service is important to our members and the American people they serve.
Physicians at the VA hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, have voted to join AFGE and become part of the labor movement that stands for good jobs and a voice at work. The new unit, which comprises approximately 180 physicians, will be represented by AFGE Local 3669. Despite obstruction from the VA Human Resources and anti-union emails from individual managers, AFGE prevailed in the election, which took place Aug. 15. Congratulations to all!
Current and retired federal workers will pay 4.9% more in health insurance premiums on average next year.
AFGE continues to call on the Senate to pass COVID-19 relief legislation that would address the needs of working families.
