Physicians at the VA hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, have voted to join AFGE and become part of the labor movement that stands for good jobs and a voice at work. The new unit, which comprises approximately 180 physicians, will be represented by AFGE Local 3669. Despite obstruction from the VA Human Resources and anti-union emails from individual managers, AFGE prevailed in the election, which took place Aug. 15. Congratulations to all!
House lawmakers approved a measure preventing the Trump administration from implementing a proposed rule that would make it harder for federal employees to successfully challenge workplace discrimination.
According to AFGE’s internal survey, 3 out of every 4 VA staff have directly experienced racism at work and 65% of VA staff believe racism makes their job harder.
