District 2 Holds Organizing Drive

AFGE District 2 held an organizing drive to recruit new members at a number of New York City Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities this week.
Union leaders including AFGE President J. David Cox Sr., AFGE National Secretary-Treasurer Eugene Hudson Jr., and District 2 National Vice President Vincent Castellano spoke with more than 600 members and helped local activists sign up 57 new members during the four-day organizing blitz.
AFGE National VA Council leaders Ena Thompson-Judd, Bob Fetzer and Dr. James Martin were on hand to assist with the event’s success through their expertise on VA employee issues.
“I am proud of all the work that each local has done this week,” said Castellano.
Locals participating in the recruitment activities included Local 2094 and Local 2695 at the Manhattan VA; Local 1119 and Local 2440 at the Montrose VA; Local 1843 at the Northport VA; and Local 2790 and Local 1168 at the Bronx VA.
