“We appreciate you!” “Hang in there!” “Keep up the good work!” were some of the encouraging words the American people want our government workers to hear during these tough times.
As federal workers are being targeted by the Trump administration, we at AFGE want to reiterate the importance of these employees and the services they provide. The American people deserve clean air, safe drinking water, affordable homes, decent health care, retirement security, safe living environment, and opportunities to pursue their dreams. Government workers are highly skilled with the knowledge and expertise to support our country’s needs. They are proud to serve, and we at AFGE are proud to support them and their missions.
During this year’s Public Service Recognition Week which runs from May 4-10, the American people want government workers to know they appreciate them and will always have their backs.

Federal workers are proud to serve!
Statement from the AFGE Council of Prison Locals to the dedicated men and women of the Bureau of Prisons and all other facets during Public Service Recognition Week and National Correctional Officers Week:
“This Public Service Recognition Week, the Council of Prison Locals 33 proudly recognizes and honors the extraordinary service, sacrifice, and resilience of every correctional professional across our nation. Your unwavering commitment to upholding justice, maintaining safety, and fostering rehabilitation stands as a cornerstone of our correctional system and our communities.
Each and every day, you face one of the most challenging and often overlooked environments in public service. Your courage, professionalism, and integrity in the face of adversity deserve not only our appreciation, but the respect of a grateful nation. You are more than public servants—you are the quiet guardians who ensure order where many fear to tread.
On behalf of the Council of Prison Locals, thank you for all that you do. We are proud to stand with you, today and always. Hold your head up and stay the course, even in these very uncertain times. We are stronger together!”
Statement from the AFGE National VA Council to VA employees and nurses during Public Service Recognition Week and National Nurses Week:

We thank you for choosing VA. We thank you for your federal service.”
