Somebody noticed what we at AFGE noticed. There are serious problems at the senior levels at the Pittsburgh VA hospital, but frontline workers come to work every day with the goal of providing the best service to our veterans. Retired Army Col. Warren Gunderman wrote to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:
"While there is no question that there are serious problems at the senior levels of the VA management and administration, those who are on the front lines providing care to veterans — the nurses, doctors, technicians, clerks, service personnel and volunteers — are simply outstanding. Never have I seen or experienced a higher level of care, concern, patience and professionalism."
