In response to requests from federal employees stationed overseas who lack union representation, AFGE has launched a new local to cover all currently unrepresented federal employees in Europe.
This new at-large local will serve federal employees throughout Europe working for any federal agency and under the General Schedule, Wage Grade, or Non-Appropriated Fund pay systems.
There are more than 10,000 employees currently working in Europe who are eligible to join AFGE today. Most work for the Defense Department at military hospitals, child care centers, commissaries and exchanges, as firefighters, and in combat support and logistics.
Click here to read the Stars and Stripes article about the creation of AFGE Europe.
By joining AFGE, federal employees working in Europe will be able to lobby lawmakers and mobilize at the worksite to improve working conditions in Europe. Dues-paying members also will have access to AFGE assistance in filing statutory appeals of retaliation or discrimination in the workplace.
Joining AFGE Europe takes three easy steps:
Step 1: Go to www.joinafge.org
Step 2: Select your agency from the drop-down menu and select L0014 as your local
Step 3: Complete the one-page membership form and click Join
Initial dues have been set at $14 per pay period. Payments can be deducted automatically from your bank account or charged to your preferred credit card.
