Letter from Concerned Citizen
Dear Representative/Senator –
My name is (YOUR NAME), and I am your constituent living in (YOUR CITY AND STATE). I am writing to urge you to issue a public statement supporting federal workers and their legitimate rights.
Federal employees are my family, my friends, and my neighbors. They are the people who secure our borders, protect my family as we fly, inspect our food, and care for our nation’s heroes. But, on Friday, May 25, 2018, President Trump issued three executive orders that target their workplace rights.
The orders undermine federal employees’ ability to use collective bargaining agreements to protect themselves from workplace discrimination and sexual harassment—a right that all working people in America should have.
President Trump wrote these orders under the guise of “efficiency” and “transparency” but they will do just the opposite. Federal employees are working Americans just like me who deserve a workplace free of discrimination, unfair termination, and retaliation.
They took an oath to serve our country, and we should honor their service.
I urge you to join me in standing with working people and speak out publicly in support of federal employees. Let’s stand up and speak out against these destructive executive orders.
