CPL Military Liasion
Edward Canales is a local president at FCI Dublin L-3584. Ed joined the US Army at the age of 17, as a Cavalry Scout. His first tour of duty overseas was in Bamburg, Germany - where he patrolled the East/West German border during the Cold War. In 1991, Ed deployed to Iraq for Operation Desert Storm. He was assigned to Ghost Troop 2nd of the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment where he became apart of history in one of the greatest tank battles known as the Battle of 73 Easting. Ed received several military commendations for bravery. Ed sustained combat-related injuries and is currently a 100% disabled veteran.
In 2014, he was appointed by the National President as a CPL Military Liaison where he answers day to day questions of BOP veterans needing assistance. He is a strong advocate of veteran rights and a staunch supporter of disabled and combat veterans suffering with PTSD. Ed has assisted many veterans obtaining disability and compensation ratings from the Veteran Administration. Ed’s area of responsibility covers the Western Seaboard of the United States in the Bureau of Prisons.
