“What greater form of patriotism is there than the belief that America is not yet finished, that we are strong enough to be self-critical, that each successive generation can look upon our imperfections and decide that it is in our power to remake this nation to more closely align with our highest ideals?”
- Barack Obama, March 2015
The United States of America turns 242 this year. For more than two centuries, the American people have been standing together to uphold our beliefs in democracy, liberty, equality, and opportunity. Our country was built on courage and determination, and we strive to shape our own destiny to make this country a more perfect union.
For generations, patriotic men and women have joined together to make and remake this country, and what’s more patriotic than serving the fellow American people and making their lives better?
As we head out for a parade, pack up for a fun day in the sun, or simply gather a few friends for a backyard barbecue, let’s take a moment to remember and thank federal employees who make our lives easier and move our country forward.
We thank them for keeping our air and water safe, finding cures for diseases, inspecting our foods, taking care of our veterans, protecting our skies, saving lives during natural disasters, taking care of us in our retirement, supporting our warfighters, keeping our communities safe, and the list goes on.
Our public servants answered the call to serve, and we thank them for that. Happy 4th, everyone!
