The House of Representatives Feb. 8 passed a continuing resolution to keep the government funded at the FY2021 levels until March 11. The previous temporary funding bill expires Feb. 18.
The bill passed 272-161. The Senate is expected to pass the bill this week.
Congressional leaders said they’ve reached a framework for 12 full-year appropriations bills for fiscal 2022.
Several members of Congress wanted to move forward with a full-year CR at the FY2021 levels, but AFGE has called for full-year funding for government agencies at 2022 levels to address increasing workloads and resources needed to carry out missions.
“It is essential that Congress does its job by passing a comprehensive spending package for the federal government. Otherwise, agencies will just be treading water until next fall, unable to respond effectively to the latest challenges arising from the pandemic, increasing health care demands, and ongoing threats to national security,” said AFGE Legislative Director Julie Tippens.
