AFGE and other unions have long called for investment in the country’s crumbling infrastructure, but our repeated calls have been met with resistance from members of Congress who would rather give massive tax breaks to big corporations. Adding insult to injury, the House Appropriations Committee voted to cut Amtrak’s budget by $250 million just hours after the crash.
