Over the past year, the Trump administration has tried its best to silence your voice and crush your union. But we have news for President Trump and his anti-labor zealots: AFGE isn’t going anywhere.
Tearing up our legally binding contracts and attempting to prevent workers from joining the union only strengthens our resolve to continue fighting on behalf of our members.
AFGE’s representation of our members has never relied solely on union contracts. We fight for members in the halls of Congress and in the courts, we represent employees facing discrimination or retaliation at the workplace, and we advocate for workers in the press and through grassroots community outreach.
This spring, AFGE national organizers travelled the country, visiting with federal employees at various agencies to thank them for their public service and highlight all the ways our union continues to show up and serve our members.
Here’s a brief rundown of recent AFGE events:
- AFGE District 6 held an organizing metro in Louisville, Ky., in April, recruiting 80 new members and engaging with hundreds of federal employees across the city.
- AFGE Local 2250 held organizing events May 6-7 at VA facilities in Muskogee and Tulsa, Okla. They recruited 36 new members and engaged with 90 employees.
- AFGE Local 2145 held a week of organizing from April 7-10 at the Richmond VA Medical Center, recruiting 29 new members and engaging with more than 300 employees. The week concluded with a Fish Fry event.
- AFGE Local 2778 held a three-day organizing effort from April 15-17 at the Atlanta VA Medical Center, where they recruited 28 new members and engaged with nearly 200 employees.
- AFGE District 12 staff held organizing blitzes in Las Vegas, Bakersfield, Calif., and Riverside, Calif., during the month of April. Across these efforts, they recruited 40 new members and engaged with 350 employees.
