In another action aimed at frightening and confusing federal employees, President Trump last week issued an executive order targeting union contracts in the federal government.
Trump’s memo directed agencies to disapprove union contracts signed within the last 30 days of the Biden administration. The president, however, doesn’t have the authority to do away with approved contracts.
"Federal employees should know that approved union contracts are enforceable by law, and the president does not have the authority to make unilateral changes to those agreements,” said AFGE President Everett Kelley. “AFGE members will not be intimidated. If our contracts are violated, we will aggressively defend them.”
AFGE remains committed to protecting your rights and ensuring that your negotiated contracts are upheld. Stay strong, stay informed, and know that we will mobilize together to defend your workplace rights.
