AFGE received five awards from the International Labor Communications Association on Oct. 21 for work produced by the Communications Department in 2024.
The annual ILCA awards recognize the important work of labor journalists and unions in amplifying the voices of workers, shining the spotlight on injustice, and celebrating organizing victories. The ILCA contest is the largest competition of its kind. Every year it attracts thousands of entries that tell the story of the labor movement.
The Saul Miller Award for Political Action went to AFGE for an article highlighting the union’s action to address staffing and safety concerns at correctional facilities managed by the Bureau of Prisons, including an investigative report by 60 Minutes and an op-ed published in The Hill newspaper.
First place for Best Print Publication went to AFGE for our Then & Now Book, a detailed account of our federation’s history that was updated last year and distributed during the 43rd National Convention in Las Vegas. The publication also won third place for Best Design: Single-Issue Publication.
AFGE’s website, www.afge.org, received second place for Best Website in Labor. The website is AFGE’s premier source for members to stay informed on issues affecting their jobs and build their collective power through all the resources available online.
AFGE also received third place for Best Analysis for an article detailing Project 2025, its provisions, and the potential impact on the federal government and the American people.
