AFGE is excited to announce that former House Budget Committee Staff Director Thomas Kahn has joined the union as legislative director.
Kahn retired from federal service in March after 32 years of service, 19 of those as staff director for the House Budget Committee.
“Tom has more than 30 years of experience on Capitol Hill and is one of the foremost experts on the federal budget,” AFGE National President J. David Cox Sr. said. “We are proud to welcome him to the AFGE family, where he will lead our legislative program and fight for government employees to get the funding and support they need to deliver quality programs and services to the American people.”
Tom is excited to join AFGE, the country’s largest federal employee union.
“After 33 years on Capitol Hill, I am really excited and proud to join AFGE so that I can fight every day to ensure that federal workers are treated justly and with dignity,” he said. “Federal employees do critical work which keeps America great, and it will be an honor to represent them.”
Tom takes over from Beth Moten, who retired in December after 26 years as AFGE’s legislative and political director.
