Between February 7-10, government workers are going to have their best advocates in Washington, D.C. during the 2016 AFGE Legislative & Grassroots Mobilization Conference. Whether you're going to be marching up to Capitol Hill or supporting your brothers and sisters from home, here's five things you can do right now to take part in the action:
1. Remember It Will Be Cold - Pack Accordingly
This is what it was like last year. Looks pretty chilly, right?
Here's what you'll get in your registration bag:
You can show your AFGE pride AND be warm. However, we recommend you plan to dress in a few more layers...

2. Want to Get through the Registration Line Super Quickly?
Here's what you need to do:
- Arrive early! Arriving before 10 a.m. Sunday will ensure the process is quick.
- Say "cheese!" Be ready to take a photo for your badge, which all attendees are required to wear for security purposes.
- Go the registration area in Columbia Foyer [check your app map]! You'll get your badge and bag right there.
3. Download the App
AFGE members will be discussing some heavy issues during the Legislative Conference -- that's why it's super important to keep your bags as light as possible. Cut down on what you're carrying and download the official 2016 Legislative Conference App!
4. Your Badge is your Conference Pass! Wear It Everywhere!
This badge is your access pass to the general session, and big meetings and your District breakfasts. Be sure to wear it everywhere so you're able to go where you need to in the conference area.
5. Watch and Use the #RaiseUp2016 Hashtag on Social Media
Taking photos of your time on Capitol Hill or when you meet with lawmakers? Add #RaiseUp2016 to your post! We'll post some of your best to the official AFGE Facebook,Twitter and Instagram accounts.
