Help Build the AFGE Veterans Program

AFGE Veterans was created with a simple idea in mind -- taking actions that make a real difference in meeting the needs of military veterans and their families. AFGE members, many of whom are veterans, are increasingly under attack and the need for AFGE Veterans has never been greater. Therefore, the NEC’s veterans committee asks for your support in making the program a success. Let’s work together to introduce AFGE Veterans to your members and build a veterans program within your local.
Here is what we need you to do:
- Recognize your veterans by partnering with other Locals to carry out an annual veteran recognition event. (Contact your district’s LPO or NO to assist).
- Nominate a member to compete for AFGE Veteran of the Year by submitting one (1) nominee to your district NVP by Veterans Day (November 11, 2019). Please include the veteran’s name, branch & service dates, Local #, agency and local president's contact information.
- Volunteer your local to partner with Habitat for Humanity’s Veterans Build Program, to help repair homes of veterans.
To request AFGE Veterans flyers, sign-up cards or tri-fold brochures, email [email protected]. As your veterans fill out the cards, mail them to AFGE headquarters at 80 F Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001 (Attn: Anthony Livingston).
