On October 1st, 2017 the AFGE National Executive Council held a special session meeting. In this meeting, the NEC unanimously elected AFGE National Vice President Emeritus, Joseph P. Flynn to the vacant position of National Secretary-Treasurer.
Flynn will serve as National Secretary-Treasurer, effective October 1, 2017 until a successor is elected at the 2018 convention elections in August. A former National Vice President (NVP) for District 4, Joseph P. Flynn has been an AFGE member since 1979 and served as NVP from 1999-2017.
“Thank you to former-National Vice President Flynn for agreeing to serve as AFGE National Secretary-Treasurer,” said AFGE President, J. David Cox, Sr. “Joe has a long history of dedication to union activism and to AFGE members. I welcome him back to the National Executive Council.”
