From the National Vice President:
To our leaders and members of District 3, this will be our first electronic newsletter. We hope it will continue to inform the membership of issues and actions our District is working on.
It is important to me that as much relevant information as possible goes out to the members at our respective locals. This newsletter will have articles from the National Representatives, National Organizers and other important information that we hope will keep you connected into the union’s work.
It is clear that we are under the most aggressive anti-union attack we have faced in decades. Our union must rise to the occasion and fight back in many different ways. We are litigating, we are exposing it to the media, our locals are mobilizing but we need all 300,000 plus members with us. If we ask for calls to congress a hundred or so calls will not push our agenda, but if thousands call, it will make a huge difference.
Imposing contracts without bargaining, ordering our union officials to vacate offices they have had for decades, eliminating time to represent our members, is not working in good faith with the union. It is setting us back decades and our membership must stand up. The union is not a third party here. The union is certified through an election and the leaders are voted on by the members. We are you.
It is my hope that this newsletter will help us reach those that maybe do not go to Facebook or Twitter and can keep more of you informed.
