(WASHINGTON) – The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) is proud to announce that it is celebrating its 75th Anniversary on February 10, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Washington, DC. The festivities, which will be black-tie optional, will take place from 7:00 PM until10:00 PM. Featured illustrious guests will include: John Sweeney, president of the AFL-CIO; John Gage, AFGE national president; J. David Cox, AFGE national secretary- treasurer; and Andrea E. Brooks, AFGE national vice president of Women’s and Fair Practices.
Entertainment will be provided by the Capitol Steps, who—according to their website, ( http://www.capsteps.com/ )—are “…a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them.” The Capitol Steps have recorded 27 albums, including their latest, Springtime for Liberals and have been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC, and PBS. The group can be heard four times a year on National Public Radio stations nationwide during their Politics Takes a Holiday radio specials.
