Largest Federal Employee Union Says Veterans Affairs Data Breach is ‘Disastrous but Predictable’ Result of Privatization Efforts

Money must be invested in the VA, instead of efforts to privatize veterans’ care, federal union says
WASHINGTON – The Department of Veterans Affairs recently announced a data breach involving the personal information of 46,000 veterans.
American Federation of Government Employees, National Veterans Affairs Council President Alma Lee issued the following statement:
“This data breach is a disastrous but predictable result of the Trump administration's privatization of veterans' care under the misnomer of 'choice.' We ought to be taking that money and investing instead in the VA, which has more than 49,000 vacancies largely in health-care positions.”
