AFGE’s I Serve Veterans page is the place you go to find the tools and resources you need to learn more about the crises of funding, staffing, and resources at the VA. We have created this campaign page to help all of us alert employees at VA facilities, have them take action, inform members of Congress of these battles and get them into these fights.
AFGE has long been concerned about the number of vacancies at the VA and the effect these unfilled positions have on the quality of care veterans receive.
Through our efforts, we were able to include a provision in legislation that forces the VA to publicly report the number of vacancies at each facility for the first time. To see how many vacancies are at your facility, click on the map below.
AFGE has created these materials for us to get the word to all members and potential members of our fights during bargaining and against the privatization of the VA and efforts to bust our union.
The VA Employee Fairness Act of 2019 would restore collective bargaining rights to frontline clinicians including physicians, registered nurses, dentists, physician assistants, podiatrists, optometrists, chiropractors and expanded-function dental auxiliaries. It would also allow your union to hold the VA accountable for following their own policy as it relates to employee compensation, peer review, and patient care and competence. Use the resources below to call your representative and both senators and urge them to cosponsor this legislation.
