AFGE Stands with Census Bureau Workers
Council 241 is the Exclusive Representative of all organized bargaining unit employees at the Census Bureau. AFGE Council 241’s main focus consists of improving overall working conditions for Census employees, ensuring consistent application of policies, rules, and regulations, fair and equitable treatment of employees throughout all Census locations, promoting a diverse workforce, safe and suitable working environments, and ensuring equal employment opportunities for all employees.

What has AFGE done for Census Bureau Workers?
Council 241 has had accomplishments with the following providing better conditions for Census Bureau employees:
- Sequester: Worked with management to ensure that all employees were not furloughed and/or laid off
- Telework: Worked to establish Agency wide telework policies that allow thousands of employees to start teleworking
- Diversity Strategic Plan: Worked with Diversity Committee to develop a diversity strategic plan for all Census Bureau locations
- Gainsharing Awards: Worked to keep the Gainsharing awards for employees throughout NPC during the budget cuts
- Performance Bonuses: Negotiated an MOU providing employees with a 1% bonus during budget cuts.
