In an open letter to SSA Commissioner Andrew Saul published in the Baltimore Sun, AFGE Council 220 representing Social Security Administration employees called on the agency to reopen the labor-management contract and treat workers with respect.
The Trump administration’s labor board earlier this year imposed an anti-worker contract on SSA employees. The agency also implemented a partial hiring freeze for all headquarters components and regional offices.
In the letter the council also called on Congress to hold hearings on SSA if the agency refuses to right the wrong.
