AFGE Local 2031 members at the Cincinnati VA hospital don't have the resources and staff they need to properly serve veterans. They held a protest in front of the hospital last Friday to draw attention to the problem.
"We don't want to have an event where we lose a veteran or someone has untimely notification of something that's significant for their healthcare and this causes us to work beyond what we would normally do just because we don't have the staffing in order to do that," said one attendee.
Employees raised concerns with management, only to be ignored.
"There are stories of feelings, at minimum, of retaliation for attempting to do their job or for attempting to ask questions or raise concerns regarding doing their job," said Charles Smith, president of AFGE Local 2031.
