An arbitrator recently reversed a three-day suspension against a Behavior Detection Officer from Detroit Metropolitan Airport, thanks to outstanding representation by the AFGE General Counsel’s Office. TSA had suspended the BDO for failing to follow directions when she went to training instead of performing another assignment.
AFGE argued that the BDO had communicated to management that she was going to the training room and received approval before doing so. The arbitrator ruled that management couldn’t prove its case, and thus reversed the suspension and awarded her three days of back pay.
