Union Solidarity to Save the Postal Service

AFGE activists braved the cold to stand in solidarity with postal workers in their attempt to roll back a plan to dismantle the U.S. Postal Service.
It was just one of the many rallies across the country where workers and activists came together for a National Day of Action to fight against devastating cuts in service to the American people. AFGE is proud to stand with our union family at the National Association of Letter Carriers, American Postal Workers Union, National Postal Mail Handlers, and the National Rural Letter Carriers Association.
The dismantling of the Postal Service and a shift to privatization are a threat to communities and the American way of life as corporations are after profits, not the public good. So far, retail postal work has been sent to more than 1,500 Staples stores throughout the country. On January 5, they will close 82 mail processing and distribution centers, eliminate door delivery in most new housing developments, and eliminate overnight delivery, including first-class mail from one address to another within the same city or town. They also want to end Saturday delivery.
